If you’re on anon, I will not consider you a separate entity from other anons. Just so you know.
The thoughts that go through my autistic brain are often too long for Twitter and often far too scattered for proper blog posts. This is my middle-way.
My names's Jemima. Call me Jem.
I have Asperger's and depression and have lived with the former since I was born in 1984 and with the latter since some unspecified time in my pre-teens - probably. Both are as yet untreated, because I've so far met no health care pro, who could grasp that one person can have two interacting diagnoses at once.
I'm a geek. I'm a role-player. Heck, I teach role-playing. Not LARPing - the classic nerdy table top games like D&D and Vampire. I'm a fantasy and sci-fi fan. Especially fond of Star Trek and steampunk.
I'm a gamer, though not the hard-core kind. For me gaming is escapism - not a competition.
I read pretty much anything from the Elder Edda to the biography of Niels Bohr (Danish philosopher and physicist). Heck, I'll read a dictionary if the cover feels nice in my hands. Yes, I am autistic.
I'm an atheist, though I subscribe to quite a few of the ideologies and philosophies of Asatru.
I have a cat names Kaktus (the Danish spelling of - you guessed it - cactus). He's what keeps me sane, when my brain does not co-operate. He is my fylgja.
I hope to eventually study Law or Psychology, because I believe those are good areas where someone with my disabilities can still do good work for a cause I believe in. I may end up in politics, but that will be many years from now in any case. I wouldn't be able to handle the attention as things are now.
I have identified as a cis woman all my life, though I have never felt really comfortable with that. I wish to explore my gender identity, but fiddling with such a big aspect of my life and personality is something I'm not ready to do in my current condition, so I'm keeping a lid on all that for now.
My sexuality is... flexible. I'm not attracted to a set group of genders or gender-presentations, so I don't really know what to call myself in that department. When talking to people who aren't SJ-savvy I usually just say I'm bi.
If there's any of this you want to know more about either +follow me or send me an ask. If there's something completely different you want my opinion on, well, feel free to ask.
